Child Safety Standards

This document sets out the standards that Fridge Co. (Ryo Babazono; the “Operator”) applies to prevent child sexual abuse and exploitation (“CSAE”) in the app “fridge : この日々を思い出に” (listed as “fridge” on the App Store; the “Service”).

1. Basic policy

The Operator has zero tolerance for the sexual abuse or exploitation of children (persons under 18). Posting, sharing or storing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), contacting children for sexual purposes (grooming), sextortion, solicitation that leads to the sexual exploitation of children, and any similar conduct are prohibited in the Service, and the Operator will act as described in this document whenever such conduct is found.

Only persons aged 13 or over may create an account (Terms of Service, Article 2). The Service is used to share everyday photos and videos within family and friend groups, and some posts show children; such posts are handled under the standards in this document.

2. Prohibited conduct and content

Under Article 4, paragraph 2 of the Terms of Service, the following conduct and content are prohibited:

1. Any content that depicts or promotes the sexual abuse or exploitation of children, whether photo, video, text or drawing, and whether or not a real child is involved
2. Content that depicts children for a sexual purpose, and sexual remarks directed at children
3. Contacting children, building relationships with them, or requesting contact details or images from them for a sexual purpose (grooming)
4. Threatening or coercing children, or using images of children to do so (sextortion)
5. Solicitation, transactions, advertising or referrals for the purpose of the sexual exploitation of children
6. Sharing links or information that give access to any of the above

3. How to report a concern

Anyone who encounters a child safety concern in the Service can report it to the Operator in any of the following ways:

• In-app report: choose “Report” from the menu of a post or comment, select the reason “Sexual or inappropriate content”, and include in the details field a word that makes clear the concern relates to a child (for example “child”, “minor” or “underage”).
• In-app contact: use “Contact us” in the settings screen.
• Email: [email protected] (please put “Child safety” in the subject line)

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police first (110 in Japan).

4. What happens after a report

1. The Operator reviews reports within 24 hours as a guideline (Terms of Service, Article 6, paragraph 3). Review is limited to what is strictly necessary.
2. Reports that raise a concern about a child are handled with priority, and where the Operator considers it necessary, the content concerned is made unavailable for viewing even before the review is complete (Terms of Service, Article 6, paragraph 4).
3. Content found to violate these standards is removed, and the account of the person who posted it is suspended or deleted.
4. When the Operator becomes aware of CSAM or has a reasonable suspicion of it, the Operator reports it to the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law: to the police and other relevant agencies in Japan, and to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.
5. To the extent required for such reports, the content concerned and related records that the Operator holds are excluded from normal deletion and preserved, under appropriate access controls, for the period required by law, and are provided to the authorities on lawful request.
6. The Operator keeps a record of these actions and uses it to prevent recurrence.

5. Compliance with law

The Operator complies with applicable child safety laws, including Japan’s Act on Regulation and Punishment of Acts Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and the Protection of Children, 18 U.S.C. §2258A in the United States, and the laws of the other countries and regions in which the Service is distributed, and cooperates with lawful requests from law enforcement.

7. Changes to these standards

The Operator may revise this document in response to changes in law, platform requirements or operational practice. Revised versions are published on this page.
